After a magnetic storm there will be a “geo-hangover”

On the evening of October 19, a geomagnetic strike will occur that can ruin earthlings not only Thursday evening, but the entire weekend. What is the effect of a magnetic storm on a person and how to protect yourself from it, experts said.

Experts from the Russian Solar Astronomy Laboratory warned that it is better to come prepared for geomagnetic shocks on October 19. According to their estimates, the first geomagnetic impact will occur on Thursday at 21.00 Moscow time, its strength will be 4 points.

“People who believe that they are involved in astronomy claim that geomagnetic disturbances do not affect people, but only equipment,” says geophysicist Anatoly Chernov. – There is some truth in this, so during a storm you should not trust navigation systems and, in general, instruments that solve human problems. And since not everything in the world has been studied, there is no exact answer to exactly how geomagnetic flares affect the human brain. Therefore, it is better to be careful.

According to scientists, the entire night from Thursday to Friday, starting at 9 pm, will be turbulent in terms of the geostorm. From noon on Friday it will become a little easier, but from 6 am on Saturday the magnetic storm will break out with renewed vigor. The situation will more or less return to normal on Saturday afternoon. But, according to doctors, the “geo-hangover” for weather-sensitive people will last until Monday.

“Usually, on the eve of geomagnetic disturbances, people are persuaded to maintain a healthy lifestyle, not drink alcohol and fatty foods, not be nervous, and so on,” says cardiologist Stanislav Korchagin. – That’s right, geomagnetic disturbances affect the human central nervous system and the heart. Therefore, those with chronic diseases in these areas should take special care from 9 pm on Thursday. But even practically healthy people on difficult days from the point of view of geomagnetic storms can unexpectedly catch themselves engaging in inappropriate behavior. That’s why until Monday it’s better not to indulge in either important projects that require concentration or binge drinking. You may not be able to control yourself. Not to the same extent as usual, at least.

Psychiatrist Mikhail Gavrish also agrees with the opinion of the cardiologist. He lists conditions that, if you notice in yourself, it is better not to leave the house at all.

– “Title” states during a geomagnetic storm in people with a labile (mobile) psyche, and, alas, in connection with the current agenda today this is almost all of us, is increased irritability, even aggression. At the same time, there is often a decrease in performance and attention, so on such days it is useless and even dangerous to demand complete dedication from both yourself and others. In my practice, there was a case when, in the midst of a geomagnetic shock, in the influence of which he did not believe on a person, the boss shouted at his subordinate. And he returned to the office to redo the report and died. A blood clot broke off due to nerves. So be careful and take care of each other. Geomagnetic fluctuations throw the most well-calibrated electronic systems off course, let alone mere mortals with frayed nerves and a dreary off-season outside the window.
