At the end of April, the State Commission on Radio Frequencies (SCRF) intends to provide additional resources for devices that block cellular communications in prisons to the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN). Such a step was required in order not to disrupt communication in residential areas and organizations around correctional facilities. Recall that the government approved the rules for blocking mobile communications in colonies and pre-trial detention centers in order to deprive prisoners of access to it in October 2021.
How informs Izvestia newspaper, the responsible organizations are planning to approve and agree on the decision at a meeting of the SCRF in April. The Ministry of Digital Development confirmed its intention to develop and approve new conditions for the operation of blockers. Now interference is often observed within a radius of 2-5 km from prisons. The operation of devices must be limited to the perimeter of the territory of the FSIN facilities.
It is known that we are talking about the frequencies at which 2G, 3G, LTE, and Wi-Fi operate. The State Committee for Radio Frequencies also insists that the Federal Penitentiary Service continue to search for other stubs for cellular communications that do not involve radio interference. The Ministry of Digital Development confirmed that it is planned to develop and approve new principles for the operation of blockers that will help to suppress the signal of mobile operators on the territory of the Federal Penitentiary Service without interfering with mobile operators outside it.
