The crews of the Black Sea Fleet conducted exercises to search for and destroy mines in the Black Sea. The exercises took place along active commercial shipping routes. This was reported by the press service of the Black Sea Fleet.
“In conditions of a real mine danger caused by the activity of the Ukrainian side in mining certain sections of the coast and water areas, the Black Sea Fleet’s minesweeping forces carried out a reconnaissance search for mines along the routes of intensive commercial shipping in the Black Sea,” the fleet said in a statement, as cited by Interfax. The crews practiced crossing and destroying mines in a variety of ways, day and night.
Last time, the Black Sea Fleet exercised on reconnaissance search for mines on the routes of merchant ships in the Black Sea and in the Kerch-Yenikalsky Canal passed in the beginning of December.
At the end of December in the Black Sea on a mine blew up a civilian ship flying the flag of Panama. The bulk carrier was loading grain at one of the Danube ports. In January Bulgaria, Romania and Türkiye stated on the signing of an agreement on demining the Black Sea.
