The best teacher in Moscow works at the school named after F.M. Dostoevsky

Do you know what the “sixth sense” is? This is a feeling that allows you to deeply comprehend works of art, immerse yourself in historical and biographical content and pay attention to subtext. And the teacher of the Russian language and literature of the school named after F.M. Dostoevsky Sergey Valyugin, who became the absolute winner of the competition “Teachers of the Year of Moscow – 2023” in its main nomination – “Teacher of the Year of Moscow”.

As the winner said, during the competition he saw how different the participants of the competition are, both those who ended up in the final thirty, and those who ended up in the eight superfinalists.

– Everyone performed in such a way that the country would not be ashamed of us. This is the feeling experienced by an athlete representing his country, and in our case, the city, – said Sergey Valyugin. – I am grateful to those with whom I managed to meet and work for almost five months of this marathon. Many thanks to those with whom I was able to meet at this competition. What I was at the beginning of my journey in January is much less than what I have become now. I will definitely stay working at the school, because I want to apply the methods and techniques that I learned at the competition in my work with my students. I also have an idea to start a school theater.

The Moscow Teacher of the Year competition traditionally took place in several stages. First, teachers presented their author’s working methods in the format of video presentations. The tour was called “My Pedagogical Discovery”. As part of the second stage of the competition, in which 90 out of 345 contestants entered, the teachers showed the jury 20-minute video clips of their lessons and defended their own pedagogical developments. As a result of this round, the names of thirty finalists were named. And already they had to show a master class, hold a public lecture and participate in a press conference.

Eight teachers reached the fourth stage of the competition – the superfinal. As competitive tests, they spent class hours with students of different ages on topics such as spiritual and moral development, familiarization with cultural heritage, physical development and health culture, environmental education, labor education and professional self-determination.

The last, fifth competitive test was a conversation with the head of the Department of Education and Science of the city of Moscow, Alexander Molotkov. The topic of the conversation was: “Moscow teacher: values ​​and vectors of development.”

The teachers talked about how they came to the profession, told what career development paths they see for themselves, what they are proud of, who they consider their mentor, what are the main criteria for the effectiveness of a teacher’s work, and also discussed who he is – a “real teacher”. According to the results of all stages of the competition, the teacher of the Russian language and literature of the school named after F.M. Dostoevsky Sergey Valyugin. He will have to prepare a pedagogical project and represent the capital at the All-Russian competition “Teacher of the Year of Russia – 2023” in the fall.
