The best skiers of Russia gathered in Arkhangelsk “Malinovka”

There are only a few days left before the start of the Russian cross-country skiing championship. The country’s best skiers have already arrived in the Ustyansky district and have begun active preparation. This was reported by the Ministry of Sports of the Arkhangelsk Region.

“About 400 athletes will compete for victory from March 15 to 25 on one of the best tracks in the country – at the Malinovka sports complex,” wrote the governor of the Arkhangelsk region, Alexander Tsybulsky, on his social media accounts. – Preparations for the championship started last year: large-scale work was carried out to modernize the center’s infrastructure, comfortable conditions were created for athletes’ training and recreation. In addition to spectacular races, guests and participants will enjoy a cultural program: a fair of local craftsmen, interactive activities and entertainment. For lovers of activities, we will organize a playground with Pomeranian games.

The first races will take place on March 16, and skiers are preparing very actively for the start. Among the famous athletes is the winner of many major tournaments, Maria Istomina. She said that after the last competition in Tyumen she had already had time to rest.

“I’m optimistic and counting on the best results,” shared Maria Istomina. – I never tire of admiring the uniqueness of the track in Malinovka; I think that nowhere in Russia there is a circuit 30 kilometers long, and driving it is already a whole workout. We are waiting for all fans and lovers of ski racing – let’s organize a real holiday of sports!

Maria Istomina was also supported by Alexander Terentyev, who also came to the new service center to receive his skis before training.

– The fans energize us, the athletes, during the races. I am sure that the support will be at the highest level! – noted Alexander Terentyev.

Among the contenders for high results is Olympic champion, Honored Master of Sports Alexey Chervotkin.

“The Russian Championship in Malinovka is one of the main starts of the season for us,” said Alexey Chervotkin. – Taking into account the fact that all the strongest skiers in the country are in optimal shape, there is no doubt that the level of competition will be prohibitive. The head coach of the Russian national team, Yuri Borodavko, energizes the athletes, gives instructions and targeted tips on the ski track.

“Malinovka is a native place for us,” Yuri Borodavko emphasized. – It is famous for its beautiful tracks and excellent organization of competitions. During the training process, our athletes have already appreciated the changes in certain sections of the distance – the sprint circuit has become much more difficult, and now it takes place in full view of spectators. This only adds interest to the fans and excitement to the skiers. The Russian Championship is a unique chance to see our best athletes who will give their best. March 16 – sprint, free style;

March 17 – skiathlon (10 km + 10 km);

March 19 – classic style 10/10 km;

March 20 – team sprint (classic style);

March 22 – relay races (4 x 5 km), (4 x 7.5 km);

March 23 – mass start, free style 30 km (women);

March 24 – mass start, free style 50 km (men).
