The best athletes and coaches of 2022 were awarded in Sochi

Sochi hosted a ceremony honoring Sochi athletes and coaches who have achieved high results and adequately represented the city and the country in sports arenas. The solemn event, according to the Sochi mayor’s office, was held in the Great Hall of the City Assembly.

It is specified that the awards were presented to 35 winners in 7 categories. For example, “Sambo wrestler Levan Manukyan, curler Yulia Portunova, and wushu wrestler Vladislav Sidorenko were recognized as the best athletes of the year. As Deputy Head of Sochi Vadim Snegirev noted, these athletes set an example for young residents of the resort who have begun their path to victories.

“Our task is to provide young people with the necessary equipment and areas for regular classes. To do this, on behalf of the head of the city, we will continue to develop sports infrastructure within walking distance and build new complexes for beginners and professional athletes,” Snegirev said.

Commemorative awards were also received by the best sports schools of the resort, their directors, as well as physical education and sports departments of intracity districts.

Earlier in the morning, MK Sochi reported that in the resort capital took place championship and championship of the Krasnodar Territory in taekwondo ITF. Recall that the best results in the competition were shown by Sochi departures.
