The Belarusian mafia sells the line at the Polish border: we stand for two days

“Import substitution did not work out, we bring everything from Europe”

For more than a month, a transport collapse has been observed on the Belarusian-Polish border. The largest accumulation of cars is recorded in front of the Polish checkpoint Brest-Terespol.

The media write that the process is hindered by Polish border guards. Eyewitnesses say that the Belarusian mafia is to blame for everything, which organized the sale of seats in the queue.

We talked to people about the problem and found out that Belarusians are being transported from Europe.

In the Brest-Terespol chat, the driver left a message: “I’m going to Poland right now. I’ve been in line for 15 hours. Poles are scolded in chat rooms, they say, such and such work slowly. So the real truth is that the mafia is operating here. People in six or seven cars stand in front of the median strip, selling seats. I stood at the back of the queue for five hours and didn’t move. So it’s not the lazy Poles, but the Belarusians that slow down their own people.”

We spoke with the author of the comment.

– I have been standing at the border since four in the morning and only in the evening I drove up to the entrance, where they register in an electronic queue. There were 15 cars ahead of me. I was warned that it would take another 5 hours to go before the checks. So it takes two days to cross the border. People stand for a long time, because the entrance area was simply blocked in order to sell seats. A coordinated team works. Some cars block the queue, some leave, freeing up space. Then they come back and stand back with the clients. To a direct question: what is happening, they answer me, supposedly they are waiting for my mother, they are holding her place. The legend about my mother was overwritten by several people. The second version is completely crazy, they say, their ignition does not work well and the car cannot start.

These comrades approach the drivers with an offer to pass the border without a queue. Pretending to be customs officials. People leave their data. And then they demand money in advance. If a person does not agree to a deal, he is threatened with problems.

It’s hard to stand in line all day. Moreover, there are no conditions. Toilets are available, but they are so filthy that it is scary to go in. The shop is only at the gas station. From the place from which my standing began, the gas station was a kilometer away. You don’t really run. I can’t sleep either, I’m flooded with energy. There is no place to charge the phone, I took a good bank.

— Why do so many Belarusians go to Poland?

– Everyone goes shopping. Things are bad with import substitution. For example, I carry construction tools. This product is in demand. They bring monitors, household appliances – in Europe they are two times cheaper. Buying car parts. They transport the wheels one piece at a time, so as not to catch fire at customs. In case of a problem, the driver says that this is a spare tire for personal use. I also heard that purebred dogs were being delivered. Someone in the chat was interested in whether the Pomeranian is subject to customs clearance.
