The Basmanny Court of Moscow extended the arrest of Andrey Gurovich, the former deputy head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, who was accused of exceeding his powers during the construction of a hospital for patients with coronavirus in the Murmansk region. This was reported in the press service of the court.
“The court granted the petition of the investigation and extended the measure of restraint in the form of detention for the accused Gurovich for three months,” the report says.
The ex-deputy head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation was arrested in the middle of summer 2022, Gurovich does not admit guilt. He faces a sentence of imprisonment from 3 to 10 years.
According to the version of the investigating authorities, in 2020 Gurovich organized the allocation of more than 969 million rubles from the state budget for the construction of a covid hospital in the Murmansk region. However, the medical facility was built “without taking into account the climatic conditions of the region.”
