The Moscow Region authorities are imposing a restriction on visiting the forests of the region and entering them from August 19 to 28 to ensure fire safety. Citizens are asked to refrain from hiking in the forest, the press service of the Forestry Committee of the Moscow Region reports.
“We are forced to strengthen measures to reduce the risk of fires in forests. Only since the beginning of this week, forest firefighters have eliminated 14 fires, 7 of which occurred on August 16. All fires were extinguished on the day they were discovered. Without a threat to settlements and economic facilities,” said Georgy Filimonov, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Moscow Region (quoted from site Forestry Committee of the Moscow Region).
According to him, this is a forced measure, the need for which arose due to the complication of the fire situation in the Moscow region. The fire hazard class IV has now been established in the region. According to forecasts of the Hydrometeorological Center, the situation will not improve.
Patrols have been stepped up in the forests of Mosoblles, at the control points of forestries and forest fire stations of the branches, including along with police officers. Daily duty was organized, fire extinguishing equipment, including reserve ones, were put on alert. In places of mass recreation, roads were blocked with barriers.
Earlier, the Ministry of Emergency Situations warned residents of the Moscow region about the fire danger of class V from August 19 to 22. Local residents are categorically not advised to make fires in the forest and burn garbage in nature.
Since August 17, the smell of burning and smog began to be felt in Moscow and the Moscow region. They are caused by fires in the Ryazan region. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin promised to send 240 employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations to the Ryazan region. Rosleskhoz accuses Ryazan authorities in concealing the “real areas” of forest fires.
