After the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, three cemeteries in the Golopristansky and Aleshkinsky districts were under water. However, according to information received from the press service of the region’s interim governor, the likelihood of burials being washed away is considered unlikely, and there is no data on an oil spill on the left bank of the Kherson region.
“At the moment, three cemeteries have indeed been flooded in the Aleshkinsky and Golopristansky municipal districts,” spokesman Vladimir Vasilenko said.
He also added that in the Aleshki area, there is a possibility of blurring of tombstones in two flooded cemeteries, but the blurring of the graves themselves is an unlikely event.
“As for the cemetery in the Golopristansky municipal district, the probability of its erosion is very low,” Vasilenko said.
The press secretary also noted that on the right bank, in the Kherson region, several cases of oil spills were recorded. However, there is no information about similar incidents on the left bank yet.
