Documents submitted to Rospatent to register the idea of a light sail
Russian scientists have come up with a way to accelerate the spacecraft to fly to the nearest stars. The relevant documents appeared on the website of Rospatent. This is reported by the Prime agency. The device is called a light sail. It should work on quantum accelerators.
It is assumed that all devices will be launched into low Earth orbit along with the spacecraft. The invention can be used both to deliver the apparatus to the nearest star systems and to explore interstellar space.
To take the device out of the solar system, it will be accelerated to the third cosmic speed. This is 16.65 m/s. After leaving the heliosphere, the device will leave the accelerators and deploy the light sail. It is with its help that the station will receive thrust for flight outside the solar system.
