Smolny is going to improve the reputation of St. Petersburg’s Dumskaya street as the main “drinking” place in the city. Instead of bars recently sealed by law enforcement officers, it is planned to open a “cultural and gastronomic space” there. Writes about it Fontanka with reference to the head of the Central District of St. Petersburg, Elena Fedorova.
“I would like it to be an attractive tourist place that will work within the framework of the current legislation and in compliance with the order. And so that Dumskaya would not be a Spanish shame, but a place where business could develop, respecting the interests of guests and residents of the city,” said Ms. Fedorova.
The head of the district promised to present a more detailed plan for the development of public spaces this summer, adding that the business community can participate in the transformation.
Recall that at the end of March on Dumskaya Street sealed up about 20 bars. The institutions were recognized as material evidence in the case of the involvement of minors in the systematic use of alcoholic beverages (Article 151 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). On the night of April 7-8, TFR closed the remaining 13 establishments that continued to work.
In particular, the bars “Fidel”, “Scandal”, “USSR”, GoodPeople, Scandal, Rocket, Quarenghi, Probirka were sealed with the signal tape of the city investigative committee. They are suspected of involving a minor in the use of alcohol or drugs, vagrancy and begging.
