The authorities of the Lipetsk region canceled parades on May 9 in Lipetsk and Yelets, said the head of the region Igor Artamonov in Telegram. According to the governor, the decision was facilitated by information from the security forces about possible provocations on Victory Day. Earlier, the authorities of Crimea and Sevastopol, Belgorod, Kursk, Kherson, Orel and Pskov regions announced the cancellation of the parade on Victory Day for security reasons.
Mr. Artamonov said that small festive events will be held in parks and squares – this should help prevent mass gatherings of people at one point. “We are not afraid, we do not raise our hands. No neo-Nazi bastard can overshadow the Great Victory Day. But we also have no right to risk people,” Artamonov wrote.
On May 9, 2023, no organized march of the “Immortal Regiment” is planned in any of the Russian cities. A number of cities (Chelyabinsk, Omsk, Tomsk, Saratov, Pskov, etc.) refused to fireworks.
