Member of the Federation Council from Crimea, co-author of the bill banning the Latin alphabet in advertising, Olga Kovitidi, said whether her initiative would affect the unofficial symbols of the Russian special operation in Ukraine – the letters Z, V and O.
In a conversation with the “Rise” senator statedthat these are “unofficial symbols” of the special operation, even if they are applied to military equipment.
“However, they are not official military symbols,” Komitidi stressed. “Neither are they elements of advertising.”
According to her, the bill deals with commercial advertising, but not social.
“The use of them (the letters ZVO) in social advertising does not contradict our bill at all,” the parliamentarian added. “It cannot be said that this bill will prohibit the use of Z, V and O signs as symbols in the fight against Nazism.”
At the same time, the publication notes that since the beginning of the CBO, many commercial organizations have begun to use “special operation symbols” on their products. So, in social networks, numerous photos and videos from customers of stores and marketplaces with a variety of goods with this symbolism have previously appeared. Among other things, nesting dolls with Z and V and New Year’s cards with them were noticed.
