The “attraction of unprecedented generosity” in the Czech Republic is explained: a million dollars fell from the sky

An incident that seemed to be taken from the film actually happened in the Czech Republic: money rained in the skies of the country. Several thousand people hunted and collected one-dollar bills thrown from a helicopter by famous blogger and film director Kamil Bartoszek.

It’s hard to imagine that several thousand people were collecting dollar bills that fell from the sky. Not far from the town of Lysa nad Labem in the Czech Republic, TV star Kamil Bartošek dropped about a million dollars (about 93 million rubles) from a helicopter onto a large crowd of people. This stunt was carried out as part of a failed competition and a subsequent promise to give fans an unforgettable gift, reports the Daily mail.

Bartošek, better known to Czech audiences under his stage name Kazma, locked a million one-dollar bills in a glass cube with a lock in September. The container could only be unlocked using the decrypted password from his film ONEMANSHOW: The Movie, which had been playing in cinemas in the Czech Republic since the end of August. The Czech portal idnes.cz reports that the film “ONEMANSHOW” was watched by 290 thousand spectators in cinemas across the country and became the most successful Czech film of all time in the crime comedy category.

Initially, the money was going to be given to only one winner as part of the competition. But, according to the Montenegrin media outlet Vijesti, none of the viewers managed to crack the code, so the blogger decided to divide the money between all participants who registered in the game. While many praised Kazma’s generosity, others questioned his choice to “throw away money” instead of allocating it to those who truly need it.

Before the grand spectacle, Kazma asked the public about how best to use the unclaimed money. In response, the blogger decided to combine the three most popular proposals, creating a memorable event for all participants. Each note reportedly came with an attached QR code with a link to an online platform where winners could donate money to charity.

“You’ve given us a lot of ideas about what we should do with money that no one has earned. Most often you write to us these three things: help someone and donate money for something good, distribute it among the players who played our game, do another show for money. So I thought about what to do with that and then I thought we could combine these three things together,” Kazma said in the video before the stunt.

On Sunday morning, October 22, participants received an email containing information about where to meet for the event, the details of which were not disclosed, according to Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia. To make it more interesting for them, they had to decipher the code that indicated the exact location. According to Kazma, about 4 thousand people collected $1 bills in an hour.

A video from his YouTube channel shows him preparing money by taking it out of bags. The footage then shows the bags being placed into a large metal storage container, which was then attached to cables to the helicopter.

Kazma shared the exciting experience on his social media and admitted that it was “the world’s first real MONEY RAIN.” In the post, he also explained that a cargo helicopter would be crossing the Czech Republic carrying a million dollars: “In a few days, a cargo helicopter will fly over the Czech Republic. At a certain point, the belly of the helicopter will open and release the cash. Only those with activated Contest Cards will receive advance notice of when and where this exciting event will take place.

Police, firefighters, doctors and security personnel were present at the event, but according to media reports, there was no need to involve the services.

A subsequent video posted to X (formerly Twitter) showed the moment the money was thrown into the sky. In it, dozens of people can be seen running around a field trying to put more money into plastic bags and backpacks. Some of the more creative fans caught money in upside-down umbrellas.

In the comments to the last video, viewers were divided in their opinions about the necessity of this act, and some were impressed by the blogger’s generosity, while others, on the contrary, did not understand such a shocking act.

One user comments: “Generous celebrity.” A second joked: “Luckily for the people down there he didn’t decide to pull that coin trick…” A third simply added: “This is amazing.” A fourth joked: “I wish someone would do the same to my house.”
