The Armed Forces of Ukraine announced a possible withdrawal from Artemovsk “to encircle the city”
The speaker of the Eastern Group of Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Cherevaty, according to the Strana agency, said on Saturday that the Ukrainian military could leave Artemivsk (the Ukrainian side calls the city Bakhmut), since the area they now hold is “easily shot through.”
At the same time, as he noted, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are conducting an operation to encircle the city.
“There is a very small area left, and it is already easy to shell it and it is difficult to keep a lot of people there,” Cherevaty explained.
He added: “It is clear that sooner or later, for security reasons, we will get out of there.”
Earlier on Saturday, the founder of Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, announced the capture of Artemovsk under the full control of Russian forces. In Ukraine, they do not want to recognize this.
It was also reported that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky flew to Japan on Saturday, where the G7 summit is being held in Hiroshima and wants to meet with the leaders of some countries in person. Zelensky flew to Japan from Saudi Arabia.
