Over the past day, the area of forest fires in Russia has increased by more than 7 thousand hectares, up to 82.2 thousand hectares. As of August 19, there are 51 fires in the country, TASS reports, citing Avialesookhrana data.
The largest fire is in Yakutia (66.4 thousand hectares). Also, large areas of forests are burning in the Ryazan (6 thousand ha) and Nizhny Novgorod (3.8 thousand ha) regions, in the Komi Republic (4.9 thousand ha). 2586 people, as well as 434 pieces of equipment, were involved in extinguishing fires.
The fire season is open in 83 Russian regions, in seven there is an emergency regime. In particular, emergency announced in the Nizhny Novgorod region, where there was a major fire in the Vorotynsky district. Because of the fire in Nizhny Novgorod, smog is observed.
