President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with the winners of the Teacher of the Year competition, said that it is necessary to help the annexed regions “catch up” in the education system. According to him, the best pedagogical practices and methods need to be applied in these regions so that the teachers themselves can learn. The meeting of the President with the laureates and finalists of the competition took place on the federal territory of Sirius in the Krasnodar Territory.
“We need to help colleagues catch up, do everything so that both schoolchildren and teachers feel part of the huge, common, unified educational space of our country,” Vladimir Putin said during the meeting (quoted from “RIA News”).
He addressed the teachers present and said that the new regions would benefit from the expertise of “recognized leaders in the profession,” as well as their creativity and innovative potential. “Of course, I really hope, and this is also a very good tradition of competitions in the field of education, that you will become mentors, including for your colleagues,” the president added.
Vladimir Putin also thanked Sirius for its work in the annexed regions. He expressed the hope that the educational center will use “all its experience and competence to revive all levels of education” in these regions.
In August 2023, the first deputy chairman of the Duma Committee on Education, Yana Lantratova reportedthat in the new academic year 1,174 schools will be able to operate full-time in the annexed regions. The remaining 217 schools, which are located near the combat zone, will work remotely. We are talking about schools in the areas of Yasinovataya, Gorlovka, Makeevka and Donetsk.
