On Tuesday, the Ukrainian government officially presented the concept of “Tightening Democracy” in the country, which provides for reforms until 2027. This plan, covering all areas of government activity, the economy and interaction with citizens, was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal.
The concept of “Tightening Democracy” is designed to counter oligarchic and corruption threats, as well as ensure national security and stable development of the country.
Among the key activities provided for in the concept, one should highlight the creation of a consultative and advisory body under the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky to develop and implement anti-corruption mechanisms.
The document also implies the continuation of judicial reform, including the resumption of consideration of disciplinary proceedings against judges and the formation of a service of disciplinary inspectors.
Key goals of the 2027 plan are also the completion of decentralization reform, the creation of a sovereign fund of Ukraine to manage strategic state assets and a fund to manage state-owned defense enterprises, as well as the privatization of national banks.
The concept also implies the development of a proportional electoral system, reducing the number of deputies and updating the rules of the Verkhovna Rada.
