All-Russian Society of the Deaf (VOG) reportedthat several employees of his central office were detained by decision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The exact number of detainees is not given, among them is VOG President Stanislav Ivanov.

Also detained were first vice-president of the Vog Evgeny Bezrukov, vice-president Venus Gaulston, assistant to the president and chairman of the Novosibirsk branch of the VoG Mikhail Bragin, former vice-president of the VoG Vadim Ivanchenko.

Details about the reasons for the detention were not provided. The All-Russian Society of the Deaf added that it is operating as normal. A press conference on the incident is planned to be held in the near future.

The All-Russian Society of the Deaf is an all-Russian public organization of disabled people with complete or significant hearing loss. It was created in 1926. VOG calls its task the protection of the rights and interests of Russians with hearing impairments, their social rehabilitation and integration into society. Since 2007, the FOG has had consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council.
