Starting from 2024, the Afalina and Kasatka-2M boats will be equipped with domestic engines and propulsors, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the holding manufacturer KMZ (Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant).
Previously, KMZ supplied these boats with foreign energy systems to various Russian law enforcement agencies. For example, the Ministry of Emergency Situations was supplied with 42 PK-500 patrol boats, and this year the Russian Guard received six units of Afalina-type boats.
“Production of two types of propulsion has already started: one is intended for use with diesel engines, and the second with gasoline engines. Both are intended for planing boats, including Afalina and Kasatka-2M, as well as for compact boats 5-5.5 in length meters,” said a representative of the holding.
