The development of alpine skiing in the district capital will be carried out by the Mount Mikhail Active Recreation Center. The new state institution was headed by Andrei Nagorny. The center will take under its management the property of the base in the vicinity of Anadyr, reports Chukotka news agency.

Today, the Mount Michaela ski resort, as well as all its property – snowcats, sports equipment – belong to the District Children and Youth Sports School. The complex is currently being transferred to a new owner.

“I hope that the transfer of all property will be completed by April and we will capture the end of the season. A ski resort is a high-risk facility. Before starting the lift, you must register with Rostechnadzor. To do this, specialists must come to us to check the equipment and give an appropriate conclusion. After this, equipment rental will resume,” said Andrey Nagorny, director of the State Autonomous Institution PrJSC Active Recreation Center “Mountain Michael”.

This season, the base has a cross-country ski track and a slide for children. There you can ride for free with your own equipment – tubing, skis and snowboards. Residents of Anadyr will have to leave their cars in the parking lot in front of the barrier.

The Active Recreation Center plans to develop infrastructure on Mount Michael. Build new gazebos; the sites for them were prepared last fall. In addition to the existing year-round A-frame style house, it is planned to build four more of the same type. It is planned to install two more lifts on the slope – one for the tubing park, and the second for beginner skiers.

The main base complex on Mount Michael was completed in October 2022. This is a spacious one-story building that can accommodate up to 100 people. It is divided into several zones, the largest of which is the public living room. Also inside there are locker rooms, classrooms for classes, equipment storage and other rooms. Operation of the main base complex was suspended due to design flaws, the elimination of which continues.
