The “50 school sports halls” program in the Far East will be expanded

Since 2023, schools in the Far East have been actively building modern gyms as part of the “50 school sports halls” program. It is being implemented on the initiative of three-time world champion in Kyokushin karate (IKO, 35-39) Khaid Mantaev together with the Ministry of Eastern Development with the support of the plenipotentiary representative of the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev. The program will be significantly expanded – there will now be up to 250 new modular gyms. This was reported by the press service of the office of the plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District.

Until recently, the goal of the program was to build at least 50 modular gyms in the Far East in two years at schools where there have never been gyms – in cities and small towns. After which the Ministry of Eastern Development, together with the embassy of the Far Eastern Federal District, decided to increase the number to 250. The gyms will be used by both schools and sections for practicing various sports and martial arts outside of school hours. The project is being implemented through the mechanism of the Presidential Single Subsidy.

“Due to the fact that this is an acute problem, the solution of which is being addressed at the request of society, work is underway to scale the project to 250 halls. Gyms will appear in other regions of the Far East and the Arctic thanks to joint work with the Ministry of Eastern Development with the support of the plenipotentiary representative of the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev,” said the three-time world champion in Kyokushin karate (IKO, 35-39), head of the project “Kyokushin to school” in the Far East East Khaid Mantaev.

The gyms are equipped with everything necessary for schoolchildren to have the opportunity to conduct a physical education lesson, as well as additional classes in certain sports, including Kyokushin. In addition, the gyms are equipped with a training room, locker rooms, showers, toilets, and rooms for the disabled.

In 2023, 11 modular gyms have already opened in the Far East, including 7 in the Trans-Baikal Territory, 3 in the Republic of Buryatia and 1 in the Primorsky Territory. By the end of 2023, another 11 modular gyms will be commissioned – 3 in the Primorsky Territory, 4 in the Khabarovsk Territory, 3 in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and 1 in the Jewish Autonomous Region. Completion of installation work and commissioning of the remaining 3 halls in the Amur Region and Kamchatka Territory is planned for the first quarter of 2024.

In 2024, it was planned to build another 22 modular gyms in ten subjects of the Russian Federation Far Eastern Federal District (Republic of Buryatia, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Transbaikal Territory, Kamchatka Territory, Primorsky Territory, Khabarovsk Territory, Amur Region, Magadan Region, Jewish Autonomous Region, Chukotka Autonomous Okrug ). Another 200 new gyms will be added to them.

Today, modular gyms are built based on 3 design solutions, which imply different sizes. In addition, there are two types of gyms – one suitable for standard climates, the other for harsh ones. It is worth noting that gyms are appearing even in remote settlements, where logistics for transporting building materials are difficult.
