The 2030 FIFA World Cup will be held on three continents for the first time in history – South America, Europe and Africa.
The FIFA Council made this decision on Wednesday. Thus, the tournament matches will be hosted by 6 countries – Uruguay, Argentina, Spain, Portugal, Paraguay, Morocco.
The event is timed to celebrate the centenary of the World Cup, which was first held in Uruguay in 1930. “The first match will be played in the stadium where it all began – in Montevideo at the legendary Centenario,” said FIFA head Gianni Infantino.
