“For Guillermo Abascal, any game could be his last” – Kommersant FM

Spartak lost to Dynamo Moscow in the Russian Football Cup with a score of 0:3. This is the second major defeat for the red-whites in the last few days. Last weekend they lost to Krylia Sovetov (0:4). For details, see Kommersant FM sports commentator Vladimir Osipov.
There was special attention to the Dynamo-Spartak match in the National Cup, and it’s not even about the bright sign, although such a derby is always in the top, but about serious claims against the red-and-white head coach Guillermo Abascal. There were even rumors about his resignation. So another failure of the people’s team could well have influenced the fate of Abascal.
It is clear that in the Cup, Spartak had already secured its exit from the group, and the match with Dynamo, by and large, did not decide anything from a tournament point of view, but for Abascal, any game now could be the last, no matter how much the owners deny it “ Spartacus.” Moreover, the Spaniard again showed that he could not assemble a team.
In the cup match with Dynamo, the red and white seemed to look good at first, but they conceded two goals at the end of the first half, forcing the commentators to add emotions to the report: “Maksimenko pulls out the first shot, and they finish it off with the second!”
Of course, after such a first half, Abascal began to make substitutions. Strengthen the squad with core players, whom he apparently wanted to give a rest.
But neither the newcomer Bongonda nor the legendary Promes could change the situation.
Moreover, towards the end of the meeting, the young Dynamo debutant Ivan Zazvonkin made the score indecent for Spartak. “Grulev! Rebound, and that’s it, victory! Zazvonkin! This is fatality!” exclaimed the commentator.
Moreover, after the final whistle, Dynamo goalkeeper Igor Leshchuk stated that the Spartak players never even hit his goal: “In my opinion, there was not a single shot on goal in this game. We played quite well both in attack and defense and scored three goals. Finally, we have broken through a little, I hope it will continue like this.”
Thus, in the last two matches, Abascal’s team conceded seven goals and did not score a single one. But, most likely, the coach will remain in his post now. Still, the championship and the Cup are two different things, says football expert Oleg Kornaukhov:
“Let’s separate the championship and cup games. “Spartak” had a large rotation, especially since it had already secured access to the next round. It was a good training for them, but the main thing for the club was probably to find a central striker for the next round, when they host CSKA.”
Only now Spartak is playing against CSKA on October 8th. The goal-scoring Alexander Sobolev will definitely not be in the red-white camp – he will miss the match due to too many yellow cards. And whether Spartak will be able to play better in defense is a big question. Perhaps by the weekend Guillermo Abascal will find some line-up options that will pleasantly surprise the fans of the national team, because if this does not happen and Spartak loses to the army team on their home field, then only a miracle will help the Spanish coach stay on the coaching bridge.
