Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke with an appeal to the Russians, as well as to the residents of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions of Ukraine, in which he announced mobilization in Russia. The reaction of Russian politicians is in the Kommersant selection.

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin:

“Yesterday and today we hear from European politicians and the European Union threats against our country… They must finally understand that if they don’t change their position, if they don’t stop supplying weapons and mercenaries to Ukraine, tomorrow they will have problems.”

The leader of the Communist Party faction Gennady Zyuganov:

“Each generation has its own “Victory of 1945”. We cannot lose the battle for Donbass and the Russian world. We cannot lose to modern fascists and Nazis… In the USSR, during the Second World War, 33 million people were called up to drive the fascists to Berlin. The mobilization reserves of modern Russia are approximately 18 million people. But Shoigu said that about 300 thousand people would be called up. This is less than 2% of the total number of reserve soldiers.
