Team Canada wins World Youth Ice Hockey Championship transferred from Russia

In Halifax, Canada, the Canadian team defeated the Czech Republic in the final of the World Youth Championship, becoming the owner of the main trophy.
The winner was determined in overtime – 3:2 (1:0, 1:0, 0:2, 1:0). Thus, the Canadians became the 20-time winner of the most prestigious youth tournament.
The US team rounded out the top three. In the match for third place, the Americans were stronger than the Swedes – 8:7 (1:0, 4:5, 2:2, 1:0). They also scored the winning goal in overtime.
The competitions were supposed to be held in Omsk and Novosibirsk, but the World Cup had to be moved from our country due to the imposed sanctions. For the same reason, the national teams of the Russian Federation and Belarus could not perform in the youth championship.
