Teachers and parents appreciated the quality of Huggi Waggi series toys

Experts of the Moscow State Psychological and Pedagogical University, commissioned by Roskachestvo, conducted an examination of fashionable toys for children from the Huggi Waggi series. They interviewed educators and parents of children, asking them two questions: “How do Huggy Waggi toys affect the play of children of preschool and primary school age?” and “How do preschool and primary school children, caregivers and parents feel about these toys?”

As experts working with children have noted, there are now a lot of toys with frightening motives in the modern children’s subculture. Moreover, manufacturers of such toys believe that, seeing physically scary images, children learn to experience and work out their fears. Most of the teachers said that “in the arsenal” of children there should be a lot of different toys: funny, sad, scary and not scary, developing and just sincere. This will allow the younger generation to get acquainted with different images and play various game plots with them.

As for toys of the Huggy Waggi series, educators believe that they carry a negative load, so parents should limit the interaction of children with scary and frightening characters. But the opinion of parents on this issue was divided almost in half: some parents of children were very categorical in their assessment of this toy, saying that this character was unacceptable in appearance and history. Others noted that evil characters are present in traditional Russian folklore, so children’s play should include both positive and negative characters.
