Tank alma mater: The Public Council of the Russian Defense Ministry visited the Omsk Institute

The training programs are based on military combat experience

The delegation of the Public Council under the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, led by the Chairman of the Council and the editor-in-chief of MK Pavel Gusev, visited the Omsk Automotive and Armored Engineering Institute on October 17 during a trip to the garrisons of Siberia. This is a branch of the Military Academy of Logistics. The military university trains tank crews, drone operators and other specialists. A city within a city – this is how you can call a military institute, which is located in the suburbs of Omsk. The fact that the object is not simple becomes clear long before entering the checkpoint. Next to the highway is a training ground where practical exercises take place in real time: tanks rushing in a smoke screen, infantry fighting vehicles, drones flying…

“Tanks fire blanks,” a university representative warns members of the Public Council after another shot, which seems to be heard right above the ear, although the “fights” are going on quite far away, at the training ground.

At the institute itself, several thousand cadets receive secondary technical and higher military education. About 300 foreign specialists from the most exotic countries – Jordan, Venezuela, Burkina Faso, etc. – study here.

To start studying, foreigners must know Russian at the highest level. If foreign students fail the Russian language exam, they are sent to a zero course. After a year they are enrolled in the first. Foreigners study the same way as Russian citizens – for five years. They receive almost the same knowledge, with the exception of information about the latest military developments.

Members of the Public Council under the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation were able to verify that military science was taught at the institute at the highest level. The cadets have an excellent training base at their disposal. At the end of the training, they are familiar with the most modern military equipment.

At the institute you can touch with your own hands and study NATO equipment obtained as trophies during the Northern Military District. As the institute’s teachers said, cadets study it in detail in order to know its strengths and weaknesses. However, as officers admit, after studying the trophies, everyone is convinced that domestic technology is better, it is the most thoughtful and reliable in the world.

Soldiers with experience in combat operations in the Northern Military District zone also enter the institute. The cadets, who have unique knowledge, not only share their experience with their comrades, but also engage in scientific development, creating weapons that are now needed in the special operation zone.

Members of the Public Council were shown more than five military inventions of the cadets implemented “in metal”. These are, for example, combat robots. Some of them can evacuate the wounded from the battlefield, others are capable of firing at the enemy.

– What we saw today, the level of preparation and training, amazes every imagination. Especially the samples of robotics that the cadets create,” said the head of the Public Council, Pavel Gusev.
