Tambov region plans to ban inducement to abortion – Kommersant

Head of the Tambov region Maxim Egorov contributed to the local Duma a bill banning inducement to artificial termination of pregnancy in the region.

According to the draft law, this means forcing a woman to have an abortion through persuasion, offers, bribery, deception and other demands. Informing by a doctor about the state of health of a pregnant woman and the presence of medical indications for artificial termination of pregnancy will not be considered inducement. Inducing this will entail administrative liability, the sanctions for which are not disclosed in the document.

The explanatory note to the bill, prepared by the acting Minister of Health of the Tambov region, Alexey Ovchinnikov, states that now a woman is actually deprived of the opportunity to independently make a decision about an abortion, because the existing information and cultural environment “imposes abortion as an acceptable, accessible, simple “solution to problems” or , moreover, “right.” At the same time, according to the author of the bill, information about the essence of abortion, its irreversibility and harm is suppressed along with the fact that the imposition of abortion is “a specific ideological concept based on the idea of ​​reducing the world population.”

In early August, a similar law banning abortion promotion accepted in the Republic of Mordovia. According to the document, information cannot be disseminated in the region that creates a negative attitude towards pregnancy and childbirth, fear of bearing and raising a child, and creates the idea that artificial abortion is harmless and safe for the life and health of women.
