Swiss bank Credit Suisse serviced the accounts of Nazi officials until 2020

According to a Twitter post by the US Senate Budget Committee, the Swiss bank Credit Suisse serviced the accounts of high-ranking Nazi officials until 2020. As a result of the investigation conducted by the commission, data were found on 99 individuals who had bank accounts and were either high-ranking Nazi officials in Germany or members of Nazi-linked groups in Argentina.
The senators also said that 70 accounts that could be linked to the Nazis were opened with the bank after 1945, and 14 of them remained open after 2000, which raises serious questions about the bank’s activities. Among the accounts mentioned were those of Nazi commanders convicted during the Nuremberg trials.
Credit Suisse promised to conduct its own investigation into the matter, but a report from the US Senate Budget Committee shows that the bank has not taken sufficient steps to prevent similar violations in the past. In general, this discovery could have serious consequences for the reputation of Credit Suisse and lead to serious legal consequences.
Credit Suisse is the second largest Swiss financial conglomerate after UBS. The headquarters is located in Zurich (Switzerland), on Paradeplatz. Since 2011, it has been one of the globally systemically important banks. Credit Suisse was founded in 1856.
