Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson expressed her readiness to admit defeat in the elections and resign, reported NRK. She stated this at a press conference.

“Tomorrow I will submit my resignation from the post of prime minister, and the responsibility for continuing the process [формирования правительства] will go to the Speaker and Parliament. When there is a new government, I will lead the Social Democratic [рабочую] party in opposition,” she said (quote according to TASS).

Parliamentary elections were held in Sweden last week, as a result of which the right-wing bloc, which includes four parties – the Swedish Democrats (SD), the Moderate Coalition Party (UKP), the Liberals Party (PL) and the Christian Democrats (HDP), got the majority. According to NRK, the backlog of the parties of the ruling red-green bloc became apparent on the morning of September 12 – after the counting of the last preliminary votes and the votes of those people who came to the polls abroad. Thus, the ruling coalition did not receive enough mandates to maintain its position.

The publication notes that the next prime minister will be the leader of the UKP Ulf Kristersson, who is already working on the formation of a new government.
