Swedish man accused of spying for Russia faces life sentence

The Swedish prosecutor’s office insists on guilt for two brothers who are accused of spying for Moscow. According to Reuters, one of the brothers faces a life sentence, the other could be sent to prison for 12 years.
The final verdict will be announced on January 19. The investigation believes that the brothers passed secret information to Russia for ten years. At the same time, the elder brother held a high position in the intelligence agency, and then in the armed forces. The brothers plead not guilty.
The Aftonbladet publication clarifies that the first defendant, 42-year-old Peyman Kia, is a former employee of the state security service and military intelligence in Sweden. The second defendant is his brother Payam Kia. The men were detained in September 2021.
