Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonsson said on the sidelines of a contact group meeting at the Ramstein base that Ukraine needs to prepare for a long conflict of attrition.
“But I think that we should be prepared that the war can be long, unfortunately,” he said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
In this regard, Jonson noted that the allies must make sure that they can provide logistics, spare parts, ammunition. In a conflict of attrition, he says, security of supply is key.
Regarding the transfer of aircraft to Ukraine, he noted that it is difficult for Sweden to give up those aircraft that it has to protect its territory. Jonson added that Ukraine can achieve air superiority with air defense, which is why during the meeting at the Ramstein base it was voiced that air defense systems are now critical.
