The EU may restrict the transit of a number of goods through the territory of Russia

The European Union, as part of the eleventh package of anti-Russian sanctions, may impose a ban on the transit of a number of goods through the territory of Russia, Bloomberg reports, citing informed sources.

Such a measure is aimed at combating the circumvention of sanctions, the agency notes. According to him, the ban on transit can be extended to cars, high-tech and other goods, while a complete ban on the transit of goods to third countries through the Russian Federation is not planned.

The agency says Russia has been able to circumvent a ban on high-tech products such as microchips by purchasing them through third countries, notably Turkey. The new package of sanctions could also affect oil tankers that turn off their navigation systems while underway so they can’t be tracked, the sources said.

However, the main task of the new package of sanctions will still be the fight against bypassing the already introduced restrictions, which is carried out, among other things, with the use of companies in third countries.

Since the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, the EU has already adopted 10 packages of sanctions, the last of them on February 24. A number of Russian citizens, departments and companies were then subject to restrictions. New anti-Russian sanctions after the start of the NWO were also introduced by the United States, Great Britain and several other countries, while the restrictions were repeatedly expanded. In response, Russia took a number of measures of a financial and economic nature, including currency control and parallel imports, and Moscow also began to actively implement projects in the field of import substitution and increase cooperation with friendly countries.
