SVR announced the destruction of most of the equipment supplied to Kyiv by the West

Most of the military equipment that the West has already supplied to Kyiv was destroyed during the Russian special operation, informed press service of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR).

They explained that since December 2021, NATO countries have transferred 1,170 air defense systems, 440 tanks, 1,510 infantry fighting vehicles, 655 artillery systems to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). In addition, Ukraine received 9,800 rockets for multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), 609,000 anti-tank rounds and 1.26 million shells.

“Most of the military equipment provided by the West was destroyed by Russian troops,” the Foreign Intelligence Service said.

Earlier on February 18, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that a Russian victory in the Ukrainian conflict “would be extremely” dangerous for NATO, so it was necessary continue support Ukraine. The secretary general also believes that the countries of the alliance should prepare for confrontation with Russia: modernize their own armies, strengthen relations between European countries and the United States, and generally strengthen the “resilience” of Western society.

On February 1, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergey Naryshkin in an interview with RIA Novosti declaredthat the West is expanding the volume and list of deliveries of offensive weapons to Kyiv, and, according to him, the United States and its allies are ready to “wage war with Russia to the last Ukrainian.”

The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the supply of Western weapons to Kyiv. In particular, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, warned that pumping Ukraine with weapons brings NATO closer to the dangerous line of a direct military clash with Russia.

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on January 30 that Western supplies of new weapons to Ukraine lead to a significant escalation of the conflict, but this is not and will not potentially change the course of events. The Kremlin spokesman has made similar statements more than once. In particular, in the summer of 2022, Peskov said that the supply of weapons to Kyiv won’t change parameters of the Russian special operation, its goals will be achieved in any case.
