A video with strange foam on the Lena River appeared on social networks and instant messengers. The Ministry of Ecology of the region confirmed the fact and reportedthat specialists have left for the area.

The video was filmed by “Kyl Bastakh” in the vicinity of the city of Pokrovsk, Khangalassky ulus. The author of the video is surprised at the strange phenomenon and suggests the chemical origin of the foam, arguing that there are no strange smells, however, from the foam. The Ministry of Ecology reported that the Khangalas Inspectorate of State Environmental Monitoring is conducting an on-site survey with water sampling.

“Water foaming is often observed during flood events, when the speed and intensity of water movement increases in side rivers and streams, as a result of which water foams at the lower boundaries of rapids and rifts, and suspended solids and particles of forest litter can settle on the resulting foam,” they said. in the department and noted that in case of detection of contamination based on the results of laboratory tests, response measures will be taken.
