Sunak says U.K. pilot training will begin in the coming weeks
In Britain, in the coming weeks, training of pilots of the armed forces of Ukraine will begin. This statement was made by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during a speech in the House of Commons of Parliament.
“Ukrainian pilots will start training here in just a few weeks,” Sunak said.
The decision to start training the first twenty pilots of Ukraine was previously announced by British Deputy Defense Minister James Hippie. He noted that the military will be trained to fly aircraft, but the British Air Force does not yet have F-16s that are capable of carrying nuclear weapons.
Eleven Western countries formed a coalition to help Kyiv get F-16s and then train pilots. These countries include the Netherlands, Denmark and the United States.
Prior to this, Joe Biden’s national security aide Jake Sullivan said that members of Europe would send F-16 aircraft to Kyiv after pilot training was completed.
