Study: 53% of Russians have not visited architectural attractions in their region

A study was conducted among Russians to find out whether citizens are familiar with the sights of their region, how often they visit them, and how they search for information about cultural sites. The study was conducted by a social network. Odnoklassniki with the support of experts from the Attention Foundation as part of the Architectural Periscope project.
About two thousand Russian residents took part in the survey.
The study revealed that more than half of Russians (53%) have never visited cultural sites in their region, 28% visit them 1-2 times a year, 9% 3-5 times. At the same time, when traveling to neighboring regions, 53% of residents are ready to learn something new and go on excursions.
Also, 66% of respondents said that they could name from memory a maximum of three architectural landmarks of the region, 33% remembered only one.
In addition, 18% of respondents are trying to read more, as well as visit cultural places in their region, 16% are even ready to include a tax on their restoration in the cost of railway and air tickets.
The most recognizable landmarks were the Ryazan Exhibition of Economic Achievements (18%), the White Tower in Yekaterinburg and the Pushchino-on-Oka Estate in Podoskov (12%).
