Two students from Volgograd who lit a cigarette from the Eternal Flame may become involved in a criminal case, reports press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs by region. According to security forces, the incident occurred on the night of November 15 in the Central district of the city, on the Alley of Heroes, where the mass grave is located.
The girls, one of whom is 21 and the other 24 years old, were detained by the police department. The police clarified that an investigation into the incident is being carried out and the issue of initiating a criminal case on the desecration of the bodies of the dead and burial sites is being decided (Article 244 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). If the students’ guilt is proven, they face up to a year of correctional labor, or up to three months of arrest, or a fine.
