The last motor ship for the organized evacuation of the population from the right bank of the Dnieper left on November 7, said the deputy head of the administration of the Kherson region Kirill Stremousov. According to him, people can leave the region at their own expense.
“Now, in principle, the evacuation as such continues, only in fact you can get from the right to the left bank at different times and by different modes of transport. Today we closed the road from the left to the right bank, and we do not recommend you to return,” said Kirill Stremousov in an appeal published in his Telegram channel.
At the same time, the acting governor of the region, Vladimir Saldo, assured residents that there were no plans to surrender the city.
“Today, our modest Kherson has become a symbol of the morale of our people and the resilience of Russian weapons – history has decreed so. And on this significant day, I want to assure you, dear fellow countrymen, that Kherson will stand, because even though our steppes are wide, there is nowhere to retreat, as in 1941,” the head of the subject wrote in his Telegram channel. Note that earlier Kirill Stremousov spokethat Russian troops “most likely will go to the left bank.”
On October 18, the authorities of the Kherson region announced the evacuation from the right bank of the Kherson region due to the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Later, the evacuation zone was expanded by 15 km deep into the left bank. By that time, 70 thousand people had been evacuated. On November 2 and 6, local authorities announced the suspension of civilian traffic across the Dnieper. Today, November 7, traffic on the bridge is also stopped. The Antonovsky bridge across the Dnieper had previously been severely damaged by the APU strikes.
