The Swedish e-book service Storytel stops working in Russia from October 1, reported “RIA News”. Corresponding letters were sent to the customers of the service.
“Dear Storytel users, we have sad news – you can continue to use the application only until September 30 this year, from October 1, the application will become unavailable,” the service said in a message.
Storytel promised a refund to those who had a subscription for several months – a refund will be made on September 30 for the unused period. Also, former users of the service will be able to get three months of free access to audiobooks on Litres.
Storytel announced the suspension of work in the Russian market in March 2022 against the backdrop of Russia conducting a special operation in Ukraine. The service was available only to current subscribers, new users could not pay for access. Another major foreign digital book service, Bookmate, did not stop working in Russia.
