To the 100th anniversary of the Theater. Vl. Mayakovsky on October 29 and 30, the performance-almanac “History” staged by artistic director Yegor Peregudov will be presented on the Main Stage.
Scenography and costumes: Vladimir Arefiev. Scenes from the works of Bunin, Chekhov, Shukshin, Pushkin, Nekrasov, Averchenko will be presented by leading artists – Svetlana Nemolyaeva, Igor Kostolevsky, Anatoly Lobotsky, Olga Prokofieva, Alexander Andrienko and many others. These are not only scenes from the famous performances of the theater, but also those plots that the wonderful masters of the wonderful theater loved by the audience dreamed about.
October 29 Theater. Vl. Mayakovsky will be exactly 100 years old. On October 29, 1922, the Theater of the Revolution, then headed by Vsevolod Meyerhold, presented its first production – the play “Night” directed by Alexander Velizhev based on the play by Marcel Martinet. It is this date that is considered to be the birthday of the Mayakovsky Theater.
Over the years of its existence, the theater has changed its name several times. From 1922 to 1943 it was the Theater of the Revolution. From 1943 to 1954 – the Moscow Drama Theater, from 1954 to the present – the Moscow Theater. Vl. Mayakovsky. In 1964, the theater was awarded the title of academic. In the early years, the theater was directed by Vsevolod Meyerhold. Further, the directors who determined the fate and important stages of its development were Alexei Popov, Nikolai Okhlopkov, Andrei Goncharov, Sergei Artsibashev, Mindaugas Karbauskis, who was replaced this year by Yegor Peregudov.
