Stoltenberg: NATO support for Ukraine will not weaken after referendums

NATO’s support for Ukraine will not weaken even after the completion of the referenda on the entry of the liberated territories of Ukraine into the Russian Federation, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said.

On September 23, referendums began on joining the Russian Federation to the LPR, DPR, parts of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.

In an interview with CNN, Stoltenberg suggested that after the completion of the referendums and the entry of the territories into Russia, Moscow will claim that Russian territory is being attacked with the help of alliance weapons.

However, according to Stoltenberg, NATO will not reduce support for Ukraine in connection with the change in the Kremlin’s rhetoric.

Earlier, he said that the armed conflict in Ukraine is likely to end through negotiations, but now it is important to show Russia that it “will not win on the battlefield.”
