On the OTR on February 10, on the day of remembrance, an action: ordinary ordinary people (are there any at all, ordinary, simple?) – drivers, teachers, shamans, military men – read Pushkin. It’s good, right? Definitely yes.

OTR (Public Television) in general can be called the First Poetic, there they always recite poems in the inter-program. It’s worth it. We already had the First Entertainment, the First Informational, “the main skeet”, but now there is one continuous military field channel.

And on the other hand: they chose people, gave them a printout of Pushkin: “Uncle, do you want to be shown on TV? Learn from here to now.” “My uncle of the most honest rules…”

And they read. Excellent, well done! The soul rejoices. And then what? Will this communion with beauty change something in them? Filmed on camera and … “The photographer clicks, and the bird flies.”

Will they get better from such poetic perfection, or will they immediately forget and go on living, sinning further? I think yes…

What about mercy for the fallen? Well, maybe, “someone, in some places with us sometimes,” otherwise it’s solid victorious rhetoric.

What was perestroika in the late 80s about? About freedom. I remember the endless queues for “Repentance” at the cinema “Russia” (now “Pushkin”). The queue turned three times around the monument to Pushkin. And two years later I went to the same movie in the Pravda Palace of Culture. 13 people came (counted), in the course of the play, seven left. Because it used to be fashionable. Fashion is over.

They didn’t absorb, didn’t draw in, didn’t really survive all these revelations from the Ogonyok magazine, Moscow News, banned books, films, suddenly published and shown overnight. Fashion is over. Passed by, tangentially, in the background.

It’s like a religion, a belief. People are standing with candles, they come to church on holidays, they are baptized. But there is no Christ in the soul, and there is no repentance.

Who is guilty? Pushkin, of course. “Who will do it for you? Pushkin? In Ukraine, his monuments are being demolished, everything is also being blamed on him. Pushkin will not save.
