One of the main factors influencing the causes of cancer is nutrition. More than 80% of all forms of this dangerous disease are associated with exposure to one or another carcinogen. About this on Tuesday, February 14, in his Telegram channel told oncologist and surgeon Ivan Karasev. He added that the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that about 40% of cancers in men and 60% in women are associated with certain eating disorders.

Recall that a carcinogen (from Latin cancer – cancer and other Greek γεννάω – I give birth) is a chemical substance or physical (radiation) effect on the human or animal body, which increases the likelihood of malignant neoplasms, that is, tumors.

According to Karasev, excess food disrupts metabolism, the functioning of important internal organs and increases the risk of developing malignant neoplasms. “With an unbalanced diet, a tumor can cause a dose of a carcinogen that would be inactive with a good diet,” the doctor explained. The carcinogen gets into food due to the culinary processing of products. It can “get” to the human body from contaminated soil or water, as a result of storing, processing or packaging food.

Products obtained from the use of pesticides and mineral fertilizers (they are usually grown on depleted soils) pose a particular danger to human health. You should not eat meat stuffed with antibiotics and hormones for the same reason.

The oncologist noted that in recent centuries, food has appeared that was not available to our ancestors in large quantities: sugar, margarine, industrial canned food, fast food, GMO products. Its misuse can have a serious negative impact on health.

Earlier, Dr. Karasev warned against eating food that is not the first freshness. People often, instead of throwing away moldy bread or cheese, cut off the spoiled part and eat the cleaned rest of the product. But you can’t do that. And although they do not directly cause cancer, they poison the body, destroying it from the inside, and this already provokes the development of malignant neoplasms.
