A resident of the Vladimir region sued 400 thousand rubles in moral damages from the hospital where she underwent the sterilization procedure. The lawsuit was related to the fact that the woman was able to become pregnant after the procedure.
In court, it turned out that in early 2021, a Russian woman with many children from the village of Novlyanka, who had eight children, underwent a sterilization procedure for medical reasons. Despite medical intervention, the woman soon became pregnant again, in connection with which she complained to the regional Ministry of Health. A subsequent check found that the doctors had not explained to the patient the “method and possible consequences” of the procedure.
The court partially satisfied the claims stated in the claim, taking into account “the degree of moral or physical suffering of the plaintiff”, as well as “her family and financial situation.”
