Steam digital game distribution service announced, which from November 20 will remove the ability to buy games in Argentina and Turkey in local currencies. Instead, users will be able to purchase games in US dollars.
New dollar prices will also appear in 25 more countries in the Middle East and North Africa, including Venezuela, Egypt, Panama, Palestine and Morocco. On Steam, the new policy was explained by the instability of exchange rates in the regions represented, as well as by the fact that it was becoming increasingly difficult for video game developers to choose suitable prices for games.
In some countries, food prices will increase, while in others, according to Valve, they will decrease. Argentina and Turkey have always been the regions with the lowest prices for games on Steam, and Russian gamers often switch to them to pay for purchases. If there was any money in local currencies on user accounts, they will automatically be converted into dollars at the exchange rate on November 20.
