The Stavropol squad was able to make it to the Final Four of the East Division

Following the results of a two-round quarterfinal confrontation, the team knocked out one of the main favorites – CSKA Moscow – from the fight for the honorary trophy

The Victor handball club achieved a historical achievement. In the year of their debut in the major international tournament SEHA-Gazprom League, the Stavropol squad was able to make it to the Final Four of the East Division.

As a result of the two-round quarterfinal confrontation, the team knocked out one of the main favorites, CSKA Moscow, from the fight for the honorary trophy. The first match of the series in Budennovsk ended in victory for the capital team with a score of 37:30. However, on foreign territory, the Stavropol team managed to take convincing revenge in a fantastically intense match. During the match, our fellow countrymen were able to do the almost impossible – to eliminate the seven-goal gap and defeat the reigning champions of Russia with a difference of eight goals – 33:25!

“Reaching the Final Four is already a big victory, and I think our guys won’t stop there. The flagship of the regional sport will strive to win the main prize. I’m sure “Victor” can do it!” – noted the Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Stavropol Territory Boris Semenyak.

The final four of the East Division of the SEHA-Gazprom League will take place at the end of May – beginning of June in Brest. On May 31, “Victor” will compete with “Chekhov’s Bears” in the first match. In another match, the Belarusian handball clubs Meshkov Brest and SKA-Minsk will compete for a spot in the final.

Let us remind you that the handball club “Victor” has a glorious 30-year history, of which Stavropol residents are rightfully proud. This is a unique club. Its core consists of students from Stavropol sports, which is a rarity these days. This means that the regional handball school is working properly and conscientiously. In a short period of time, “Victor” went from the middle peasant of the domestic super league to one of the leaders of the elite division and a regular at international tournaments.

“I believe that the time is not far off when the team will rise to the top step of the podium at the end of the national championship, and will also win gold in the SEHA-Gazprom League,” shared the Governor of the Stavropol Territory, Vladimir Vladimirov.
