State Duma deputy Zhuravlev proposed labeling goods from unfriendly countries

Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense, leader of the Rodina party Alexei Zhuravlev proposed introducing labeling in Russia for goods from unfriendly countries.

“A lot of Western companies, having formally announced that they are leaving Russia, nevertheless, in one form or another, are still trying to sell their products here. I am sure that such goods should be labeled “produced by the enemy of Russia”, and always in large print and in the most prominent place, ”said the parliamentarian (quoted from “RIA News”).

According to him, at present, many foreign companies that left the country after the start of the military operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine are now returning to the Russian market. Some of them do it “under other names,” Mr. Zhuravlev noted. The deputy considers such a situation unacceptable.

In January of this year, analysts from the Swiss IMD Institute and the University of St. Gallen published study, according to which, after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, 9% of foreign companies left the Russian market. It was about relatively large enterprises from the G7 countries and the European Union. However, some even managed to improve their positions. Among the rest is the oilfield services giant SLB, the former Schlumberger.
